Globular Cluster, M2

Globular Cluster M2 in Aquarius

M2 lies at a distance of about 50,000 light years and contains over 100,000 stars, the brightest of which are red giants. As a point of comparison, the Sun seen from this distance would not even be visible in any but the largest Earthly telescopes.

M2 is an easy target for binoculars.
