PURPLE CONEFLOWER (PALE)

Echinacea palida
This is the blooming season of the prairie coneflowers. There is one actually called the Prairie Coneflower which has yellow flowers

The Purple Coneflower has, of course, purple flowers but there is another species known as the Pale Purple Coneflower which is shown in this photo.

The coneflowers are members of the Sunflower Family( Asteraceae). They are native American wildflowers thriving mainly in prairies and dry barens.
