Detail of Bubble

This is an enlargement from a different negative taken several days later with the field centered on the Bubble.

[mira]

Mira, Omicron Ceti

This photo was taken with the 90 mm astrograph. The exposure was 5 minutes on PPF 400 color film.

Within a few months, Mira will be about as bright as the 9th magnitude companion star.

The California Nebula

NGC 1499 is one of the largest emission nebulae in the Northern sky. At almost 3 degrees, it is too large for the field of the 10" Newtonian. It also happens to be totally invisible from my location but its proximity to Zeta Persei makes it easy to locate photographically.
